This trek takes you to Mount Belukha, the highest peak in Siberia (4509m), at the crossroads of Russia, Mongolia, China, and Kazakstan. This exceptional route opens the doors to this legendary region renowned for its spiritual purity and prosperity. You travel to the heart of the energy center of Altai, between lakes and valleys.

Day 1
Katun Altai

 

Welcome to Altai!

Transfer to the borders of the Republic of Altai

Departure the day before. Arrive at Barnaul airport early in the morning (if necessary, it is possible to meet at Gorno-Altaisk or Novosibirsk airport). Meet your guide and your driver.

Transfer to the borders of the Republic of Altai. You take the famous Tchuya route, one of the most beautiful roads in the world. Lunch on the way.

Rafting excursion on the turquoise waters of the Katoun: you are accompanied by a certified instructor. This sporty excursion refreshes you after a long journey and allows you to get to know the team.

Installation in a tourist base. Dinner and overnight at the base.

Ust-Koksa Valley

You continue your journey in Altai…

You continue your journey in Altai, in its higher and wilder part: At the foot of Mount Beloukha, from where your great trekking will begin, you discover the Old Believers, who fled the reforms of central Russia in the 16th century. century and have inhabited the region ever since. It is also here that Nicholas Roerich began his expedition in search of legendary spiritual purity. You take picturesque passages offering breathtaking views over valleys, meadows and mountain passes.

In the village of Verkh-Ouïmon, you visit with your guide the Museum of Old Believers and that of Nicholas Roerich.

Day 3
Kutcherla River

You load the luggage on the horses and…

Breakfast at the inn.

Your real adventure in the heart of Altai begins: You load the luggage on the horses and you reach the starting point by transport. As you follow the Kutcherla river, beautiful landscapes gradually open up to you on the path leading to the ridges (hike – 15 km).

In the evening, you set up camp for the night at the edge of a mountain stream. Dinner around the fire, and overnight at the camp.

Day 4
Kutcherlinskoye Lake

 

Kutcherlinskoye Lake – Kara-Turek

A breathtaking view of the Kutcherlinskoye lake, over 2300m high…

Today you will experience an unforgettable view from the top of the mountains: You will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Kutcherlinskoye lake, over 2300m high, and cross the Kara-Turek pass. Picnic lunch on the road. Installation of the campsite (hiking – 18 km).

In good weather, you can admire the Milky Way from your camp. The sky is incredibly starry and many shooting stars appear before your astonished eyes.

Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 5
Akkem Lake

The Kara-Turek pass offers you a magnificent view of Mount Beloukha…

Breakfast at the camp.

Today you cross the most difficult part of the hike: The Kara-Turek pass offers you a magnificent view of Mount Beloukha and the Katounsky ridge. Descent to Lake Akkem (hike – 16 km). Picnic lunch on the road.

Installation of the camp near Lake Akkem, about 2000m above sea level. Here you leave the horses, the rest of the trek will be easier.

Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Valley of the Seven Lakes

 

Valley of the Seven Lakes

You spend the day at the foot of Mount Beloukha…

Breakfast at the camp.

You spend the day at the foot of Mount Beloukha and hike in the Valley of the Seven Lakes: You admire these transparent lakes whose turquoise water will not leave you indifferent. As tradition dictates, you are invited to swim in each of the seven lakes, and differentiate between dead water and living water (hike – 8 km). Picnic lunch on the road.

Day 7

You leave for a new day of hiking at the foot of Mount Beloukha…

Breakfast at the camp.

You leave for a new day of hiking at the foot of Mount Beloukha, but this time in a totally different environment: You enter the kingdom of stone and ice, at the foot of the Ak-Kem glacier. On the way, you visit the famous Chapel of Archangel Michael.

A particularly beautiful and interesting route is offered to you (hiking – 20 km). Picnic lunch on the road.

Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 8
Yarlu Valley

You go for a day of hiking in the Yarlou Valley…

Breakfast at the camp.

You go for a day of hiking in the Yarlou Valley, also known as the Edelweiss Valley: This place, renowned for its colorful mountains, its white river and its waterfalls, is exceptionally powerful due to the energy that ‘it releases. You will not be able to remain indifferent to the beauty of the landscapes. Picnic lunch on the road.

After lunch, you leave Mount Beloukha and Lake Akkem and join the Tekelu Waterfall (hike – 14 km).

Day 9
Akkem River

You go for a new day of hiking along the Akkem river: The river takes its source in the Ak-Kem glacier and carries in its waters small pieces of limestone from the slopes of Beloukha. On the way, several difficult sections of the road cross the mountain river (hike – 15 km).

Installation of the camp for the night, on the mountainside. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 10
Kouzouyak Pass

 

Kouzouyak Pass

You climb to the Kouzouyak pass…

Breakfast at the camp.

Let’s go for your last day of trekking, along the Akkem river: You climb to the Kouzouyak pass (1513m) where the famous shamanic trees adorned with ribbons are found. The descent to the village of Tungour can be done by vehicle in good weather; if it rains, then the journey is on foot (hike – 5km).

Installation in a chalet. Festive dinner in a cafe, banya for those who wish. Night at the chalet.

Day 11
Gorno Altaisk

 

Gorno-Altaisk – Barnaul

Transfer from Tungur to Gorno-Altaisk…

Breakfast at the chalet.

Transfer from Tungur to Gorno-Altaisk: On the road, you can buy souvenirs at Seminsky Pass, and stroll through the surrounding cedar grove. Lunch on the road.

Transfer to Barnaul. Installation at the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 12

Cancellation Policy
  • If the cancellation is made more than 30 days before departure, the fee is 100€ 
  • Between 30 and 20 days before departure, cancellation fee equals 25 % of the total amount of the trip price
  • Between 19 and 13 days, the fee equals 35 %
  • Between 12 and 9 days, the fee equals 60 %
  • If the cancellation is made less than 9 days before departure, the cancellation fee is 100% of the total amount
